I saw recently that Jones had been in contact with Hudson Houck about
replacing Tony Sparano. That could be a decent hire. But my question is
this: does Wade have any say in who his assistants are, or does Jerry
hire them directly? We all know Jones hired Garrett before he hired
Phillips, but is there any word on how he'll hire the coaches he loses
this off season?

Is Hudson Houck the same o-line coach that Dallas had during the glory
days of early '90's? If so, that was a pretty good unit he put
together back then. Could be a good move on Jones part. I'm guessing
he has "major input" on all of the higher-level coaching hires.

I was surprised to see that Garrett is staying put. Probably a smart
move on his part. Whoever takes over the Ravens is going to have a
massive task ahead of them on the offensive side of things. It will
be interesting to see what happens among Jones, Phillips, and Garrett
if the Cowboys offense under-performs next season.

I am sure that both Wade and Garrett will have input on any offensive
assistant, with Garrett getting a heavy amount of said input. I'm
sure that was one of the things Jerry had to agree to in order to keep
Garrett around. On top of that, it's the wise thing to do, and as I
have said, Jerry has picked up a little humility in the not-so-
glorious past few years.

Wade had almost total autonomy in the hiring of Brian Stewart as well.

Yes he is. Never said otherwise. His coaches have input on the
decisions however. It is obvious, unless you can explain otherwise
how Brian Stewart (Wade's DB Coach in San Diego) was hired as DC.
Nice try, Langer, but wrong...again.

13-3. 'nuff said

13-3.

You sure are smart. gazinia.

LOL

http://www.star-telegram.com/332/story/418152.html

"But the Jones' ground rules were also in place when Phillips took the job,
so shed no tears for Wade. When you go to work for Jerry, it's not going to
be normal.
And after Phillips verbally stumbled his way through an embarrassing mess of
a media session Monday, it's hard to imagine harmony on the coach staff
would have prevailed anyway.

Besides his usual "all is well, we won 13 games" drivel, Phillips repeatedly
hinted Monday the defense did its job against the Giants, but the offense
failed to produce. Strange and stupid finger-pointing from a head coach.

Reality says the defense was also a failure, right along with the offense.
But Phillips came across as both paranoid and self-promoting.

There isn't an offensive coach on the staff who could have been pleased
about what they heard from the head coach Monday.

So Phillips had already created turmoil even before Garrett decided to stay,
and what Wade thinks about Jason coming back really doesn't matter. It's the
best thing for Romo, therefore it's the best thing for the Cowboys."

Jealous? You should be. As I said, you acquire 70-80 more IQ points
and we *might* be able to converse on an intelligent level.

Until then, I just have to repeat what I've said all along. Jerry
does, as you put it, "call the shots", but with input from his
coaching staff, especially that of Phillips, Stewart, and Garrett.
When you can prove otherwise, go ahead.

Ah, Randy Galloway. Not necessarily a Jones "hater", but he's made a
living out of questioning Jones' decisions for the last several
years.

What's more, he's a COLUMNIST! You do understand the job description
of a COLUMNIST, don't you? Scratch that question (reminding myself
who I'm addressing here).

It's his job to share his OPINION. Only I would say that his opinion
is quite a bit more informed than yours.

Forget the fact that he's a columnist, however, and that he's
questioned just about every decision Jerry's made since he owned the
club. Just where in his column does he allege that Jones makes
decisions regarding coaches without input from Phillips?

You seem to want to paint my opinion as "Jerry lets Phillips make all
the decisions". Of course, those on a higher intelligence level than
you (e.g.
almost every reader of this forum, my 3-year old grandson, all four of
my dogs, and, of course, Spike) know exactly what I've been saying.

Nice try, but wrong...yet, again.

I'm sorry, but I question the loyalty... of any "Cowboy" fan who could actually pull for the Giants. I mean I despise the Patriots as much as anybody, but I can take them being World Champs a whole lot more than I can the Giants. Now we're going to have to hear about how great Eli is and will
