MECHANICSBURG: A former Cincinnati Bengal and Ohio State Buckeye is
scheduled to face a court date in Champaign County this week after he
was indicted on one count each of passing a bad check and grand theft of
a motor vehicle.
Clerks at the Champaign County Common Pleas Court said Pete Johnson, 53,
formerly of Columbus, is scheduled to face an arraignment hearing at 11
a.m. Jan. 22. Johnson was previously scheduled to appear in court
earlier this month but was never served with court papers because he had
moved, clerks said.
Mechanicsburg Police Sgt. Mark Randall said Johnson was indicted by a
grand jury on Dec. 17 after he was accused of passing a bad check.
"He wrote a check to Dave Kehl Chevrolet to buy a truck and it was bad,"
Randall said.
The check was for more than $13,000, Randall said, and because of the
amount of money involved the charge was a fourth-degree felony.
Officials at Ohio State University and the Cincinnati Bengals did not
return calls seeking comment Friday evening.
.....I think he'd be a good back up to Rudi? LOL
