So according to the Post Snyder and Cerrato just see Betts as a
backup. Cartwright is a free agent. For me I'd rather find a way to
keep Cartwright and move Betts if he isn't going to be spelling
Portis.

I don't think its possible for any RB to make it all the way through a
season. You need to have two good ball carriers on the roster. With
Betts contract only a year old, to trade him away would result in a
pretty big cap hit. So, they can't really deal him unless they get a
crazy offer AND have someone else who can handle 20+ carries for a few
games.
Cartwright isn't very good in traffic which limits his value as a RB.
With the number of years that he has under his belt, he also commands
a pretty good minimum salary (CBA rules). He is valuable on special
teams, but you can often find young guys who can do just as good a job
for a smaller cap%. Besides, I think they want somebody who is a
threat to go all the way with a kick return. Rock gets consistently
good yards, which is great, but nobody expects him to take any to the
house.
My guess is they'll offer him a minimum deal and see what happens. |

This is Usenet, so I *really* should jump on your ass about this comment
as not being true. I mean, it's possible, however, your point is well
taken. |
