Hello boys! I'm ba-ack!
What happened to this NG? It looks like about 5 legitimate Cowboys fans
post here and about twice as many pimple faced trolls! What a shame, this
used to be a pretty cool place to hang out and talk Cowboys.
Anyway, I've been following my boys even though I haven't been posting here
and I like what I've seen, especially the Tuna making decisions on draft
day. Too bad he will be doing it for the Dolphins now. Don't Dolphins feed
on tuna?
Isn't it ironic that Houck and I are both back at the same time? And when
the hell did Free Agent cease to be free. I swear the world is going to end
soon!
I had a chance to watch Romo quite a bit this year and I am impressed. So
why wasn't he starting 3 or 4 years ago? Imagine how much more schooled he
would be now. Marion Barber is a monster. Too bad he doesn't have another
gear for top speed. Overall, this is a good collection of talent and I
think they have the players to win it all someday. But, I was not thrilled
with the execution last Sunday. I wish I could say it was only one guy.
That would be easy yo fix. But everyone from the coaches to center played a
part in it. I bet even the gatoraid was too watered down!
Anyway, I'll be around from time to time. I hope you guys are still doing
the same great FA and draft analysis I used to read in here. I still think
the draft is the best time of year...the speculation and build-up until that
final monent when we here "The Dallas Cowboys are now on the board.....The
Dallas Cowboys have traded the 22nd pick to New England. New England is on
the board"! "With the 105th pick in the draft, Dallas picks Quincy Carter
Jr."

Seriously, I have never understood the kind of behavior you exhibit. I
really want to understand what is that is so enjoyable that people like you
spend so much of your time in NGs posting stuff like this. Even though it
appears you are in the 10 -14 age group, I am pretty sure you are not. I am
guessing, despite the juvenile nature of your posts, you are actually an
adult. So what is it? I really want to know. Most adults don't have time
to waste like you seem to have and most would be utterly embarrassed to
display this kind of silly, moronic behavior in front of other adults. This
doesn't seem to bother you or others like you. Is it that you are unhappy
with your life? Too unconventional to have friends? Too ugly or really bad
breath for a girl friend or wife? or perhaps you are married already, but
your wife wears the pants so you come here to pretend you have some control
in your life?
If you can take a minute to be serious with me, I would really llike to know
your motiviations. Its just so senseless to me.
Thanks. |

Hey slyd! Long time. Seems like the whole of usenet has gone this way. Not
that much discussion anymore... just variations on "You're an ... " followed
by "Oh yeah, well ... "
But you're right about this newsgroup. Even among the actual Cowboys fans,
it's grown more and more contentious.
I'm hoping Bear comes around with his draft analysis too, but I'm not
holding my breath. He rarely visits here much any more at all. |

Hey is ok to disagree, but how can you agree or disagree with
"bwahahahahaha" or "Yuse all suck hahahaha".
I guess we should just ignore then and talk Cowboys football. I miss the
games already and I am so looking forward to next year, particularly the
first Giants game. |

That was then, this is now. Just keep that list of 5 legit Cowboy fans
and read those posts. You'll be a lot happier.
And welcome back.

They can have Parcells. He did have a big hand in stocking this team
with talent, but his personality and style wore on players and coaches,
and frankly, made the team a bore to follow. No news from Valley Ranch.
No special energy or creativity for the game plan. His arrogant
autocratic rule would've been easier to take if he'd actually WON
something while he was here.

Why wasn't Romo starting 3-4 years ago? Parcells was playing HIS guys.
Hey, when you've got proven commodities like Vinny and Drew Bledsoe, how
can you let a young guy take his shot? Seriously, I don't know that it
would've helped Romo to be thrown out there so early, but whatever your
opinion, the buck stopped with Parcells. That's one I think he got
mostly right. He probably could've gotten Romo in a year earlier, but
that's about it.
Barber's great for what he is, but I'm not sure that's an every down,
all game back. There can't be many of those guys anywhere in the NFL,
and Barber's running style, combined with his size, make it unlikely
that he'd be able to endure for long. I don't know who they'll get to
replace Julius Jones, but I hope it's somebody competent, because the
Barbarian will need a breather.
Agree on the playoff loss not coming down to one guy. It was a team
loss, across the board. Only a few guys really escape criticism.

You left. And Allan. And Bear. And Will. And Warner. And JFF. And Spike.
Et al.
There are but a few left, easily outnumbered at any moment by the
roaming tumors of Usenet.
This is my kick line lately - Usenet is like any public accommodation,
like the public park. It's great at first, until the vagrants and
vandals move in and turn it into a shitbox.

Still the best way to have topical discussion, the interface is superior
to web based forums, but those forums have one thing we have not -
control over the mouthbreathers.

Not necessarily. "This wine is great, why didn't we drink it years ago!?"

Thanks for the nostalgic trip back to Hell.

Agreed. But it does get tiresome when you watch two Cowboys fans going at it
hammer and tong in a fashion they would NEVER employ face to face without
somebody losing a few teeth. ;^)

Have to agree, at least to a point. However, Aikman says losing all those
games early in his career actually helped him down the road.
Thing is, you just never know. Nobody's ready to do a thing until they've
done it. Aikman gets thrown to the wolves and winds up successful. A decent
QB like David Card gets thrown to the wolves for the Texans, wins a few high
profile games and gets sacked into oblivion for like five years. Pretty good
talent there that is now likely unsalvageable.

Yep.
And, if they'd use Julius out in space, rather than obstinately trying to
run him into coverage, he'd wind up being a LOT more valuable.
That said, I figure they let him go and draft another one.
