1st round game for the Pitbulls, ESPN league. I'm set at starters for
RB and WR (RB- A. Peterson (MIN) and Ryan Grant; WR - Andre Johnson
and M. Colston) but have a lot of choices for the RB/WR flex slot.
I have Willie Parker available; should I give up on the old thinking
that you shouldn't start anyone vs. NE after those last 2 games?
Parker, however, has been slowing down for the past month (even on dry
turf) and just doesn't get TDs. Other options are:

Thomas Jones vs. CLE
Dwayne Bowe vs. DEN
Brandon Marshall vs. KC
Lee Evans vs. MIA
Calvin Johnson vs. DAL

Will Calvin benefit from the Roy Williams (DET) injury? Or does the
continued implosion of the Lions mean I should keep him on the bench?
Calvin only got 1 point last week. Lee Evans last 4 scores were
6,4,1,5 - and the 6 was vs. the Dolphins.

Playoff Round 1? In week 14? Quit that rinky-dink league.

Go with Parker. Davenport is hurt, so Parker should get the goal-line
touches.

Parker, look what McGahee did against NE without Colvin.

Let me be the contrarian and say go with Thomas Jones. I think
Cleveland's run defense has proven itself to be consistently poor, and
New England's problems last week only represent 1 game. Davenport
only has 3 TDs, so its not like he's been stealing too many from
Willie anyway. Parker seems to be slowing down over the past five
games (I wrote more about it here:
http://www.fantasyfootballviews.com/2007/12/03/fast-willie-slowing-down/),
and no, I don't think it is all about the turf in Pittsburgh.

I don't think there is a huge difference between the two, but I would
lean Jones.

Davenport may miss the game with a foot injury sustained while riding
an stationary bike. Not a joke. So I would play Parker as NE's run
defense is far from invincible. Thomas Jones is a good choice too,
but he just scored his first TD of the season, I think it might be too
much to ask for him to do it again in back to back weeks.

What's wrong with having the first round of the playoffs in week 14?

Davenport actually confessed to hurting his foot while getting
acupuncture. The Steelers have now said he is healthy enough to
play. Pats run defense may be far from invincible, but the Browns
defense just plain blows.

I'll just point out:
In a 10-team league with 2 divisions, 13 weeks of regular season
allows you to play each out-of-division team once and each in-division
team twice. No screwy unbalanced schedules. Besides, if given the
choice between (a) playing a balanced schedule and having playoffs in
Weeks 14-15 or (b) playing an unbalanced schedule and dealing with the
occasional partial-game performances of elite teams in Week 16, I'll
take Option A every time.

That being said, I enjoy larger leagues (12+) anyway. But a 13-game
regular season is the way to do it in a 10-team league.

2 cents.

14 team leagues sometimes play 13 week regular seasons also, one
against all teams, with 3-4 weeks of playoffs.

They lost one of their best linebackers for the season, so of course
it only represents 1 game.

124 rushing yards for Parker. Well, now its 2 games, now it IS fair
to say their run defense is struggling. lol. Oh well, T Jones had
over a 100 yards with no scores as well, so there didn't turn out to
be too big of a difference.
