This morning I am a sad man.
I heard that the Father of the Revolution has decided to quit the
Struggle. Just as it seems that Cuba was about to be transformed into
the utopia we all have dreamed about, Fidel has decided that he would
rather quit than to fight to the end. Now we will have to bear the
forces of Capitalism and their false words of "democracy" trying to
create a Haven of Inequity. Indeed I notice that Herr Bush is already
calling for such a transition. Can his oil companies be far behind?
It is a terrible day.

Not to worry! Raul is a very solid helmsman whose sure hand and firm

I'm disappointed you left out Democrat groups.
Maybe Bellomy will make up for it.

As long as I can get my needed Castro oil, I'm ok.

Dude, that's Democratic groups. Apparently they are very sensitive to
leaving off the ic. Strange coming from some of the same people that
rather than shortening a rival party name call it the "Nazi" party or
other likewise reprehensible names, but, whatever.

There is a sadness to it, but I think Fidel deserves a rest and he's
earned it. If the Cuban people have learned from his example they will
carry the revolution forwards in the manner that he began it. They are
in a good position with good economic growth and a fair amount of self
sufficiency, much of it due to the embargo, but neverhteless they have
it. If Raul starts to weaken the revolution, then sombody will have to
exercise the recall and replace him. He will follow Fidel into
retirement after a while anyway. Neither is a young man. The
revolution is not based on one person anyway, but on the will of the
people.
