Looks like Cleveland signed Anderson to a three year deal. There's no
way Brady Quinn is going to sit there for the next three years with
his salary so I expect he'll be trade bait. As much as I hate to see
the QB carousel continue on in Buffalo, and with so many other holes
to fill, what about acquiring Quinn?

he was grromed in a pro set in college, he has seen the game up close this
year. but what would it take ? the bills first this year - too much. a
second will not get it done. there are no players that would add that could
make it work.

this will be edwards and JP as back up. [jp is going no where - too little
value]

I don't understand your logic. The Bills are pretty much set at the QB
position. Where they need a bit of help is at TE and WR. Those should
be addressed in the upcoming off season. A good draft is important.
Losman could also bring something useful if he is traded.

I'd stick with Trent. Get him better players around him (which is what
they should have done with JP, but that's water under the bridge now) and
look for Schonert to have a clue as to how to run an offense.

As for Quinn, the Browns will probably be looking for a 1st rounder for
him, given that they invested the 22nd overall in him, after trading away
last year's #38 overall and this year's #1, which turned out to be 22nd
overall. Good luck if that's the case. He slipped to 22nd and would have
fallen farther had the Browns not traded up, meaning any team that thought
he wasn't worth a 1st *last* year similarly won't *ths* year after he
barely saw action as a rookie. The Browns are better-off keeping him and
letting him showcase himself in some games this year in mop-up duty or if
Anderson gets injured.

Although on scenario could be the Dols trading their 2nd rounder (1st pick,
33rd overall) to the Browns for him. That would be a decent deal for both
sides, although the Browns lose value and it all depends on how Brady turns
out for the Dols.

My logic is that the Bills thought they were set at QB at the
beginning of last year too. What we got was a QB carousel. And the
performance of both QB's has done nothing to alleviate that concern of
"being set", at least for me. Maybe a full season under his belt and
a new offensive coordinator is just the ticket for Edwards. In my
mind Fairchild severely hindered the development of Losman, and the
WR's to some extent, with his bizarre play calling. This team has a
lot of holes. In particular the defensive line. Which I was I
originally started the Miami thread. I only throw out the Quinn thing
as fodder for discussion.

You're right...the Bills are far from being set yet at QB. Last year at this
time it was Losman's team.(he tanked though under current management and
coaching staffs) Now all the hype is that it will be Edward's team. (He has
shown some promise but certainly is far from being proven..Fairchild being
gone is good...but the jury is still out on Edwards himself.) I think if the
Bills trade Losman..they will look for a veteran at that position rather
than going with another young QB. So I think it is Edwards year to show what
he can do..and if the Bills pull off another losing season (so far they have
done nothing to show that will change) Then the discussion on who the next
latest and greatest potential franchise QB can begin again this time next
year.

So give us an educated guess as to who that Veteran QB may be?

That's really not possible to say at this point who it might be. (at least
for me) If it hinges on a Losman trade..that would depend upon when and with
who it happened. I don't think it is as simple as listing Free Agents that
might be available..since there are other ways as well via trades.

Although if Ralph wanted to spend some cash trying to go after Peyton
Manning or Tom Brady..I wouldn't be opposed to that! Smile More likely though
that Craig Nall will fit his spending cap.

not anything on the free agent list is worth anything much more than a third
slot - even on this team.
