From Raiders email just received:

Fargas Agrees to New Contract

The Oakland Raiders have reached an agreement to retain Justin Fargas
for the 2008 season and beyond. Signing the Running Back was one of
the priorities for the club as it looks
to build upon a solid 2007 campaign.

We're excited to provide Season Ticket Holders with this "insider"
information, and we hope you're as excited as we are for the future
with Justin Fargas in The Raiders' backfield.

RAIDERS RE-UP FARGAS

After generating only 1,016 yards in four full seasons with the Raiders,
running back Justin Fargas busted out in 2007, nearly equaling that totaling
14 games, with seven starts.

For that, Fargas has been rewarded with a new contract. According to Adam
Schefter of NFL Network, it's a three-year, $12 million deal with $6 million
in guaranteed money.

Fargas was a third-round pick in the 2003 draft. He was scheduled to become
a free agent on February 29.

Hmmm... a little steep. Well, lets hope he and Bush can both remain
healthy.

So much for McFadden (a GOOD thing). RB's are next to irrelevant in the
playoffs. The defenses are all too good.

I thought it was a good price. Well, high or low, good or bad signing, if
it doesn't pan out, IAAF!!

Hey, we drafted him, he sat on our bench, and he finally made
something of himself. Why not keep him, unless the price is too high?
He paid his dues and he knows the score. I agree with the pundits --
this makes it less likely we are looking at McFadden and more likely
that pick will be a lineman of some type. As exciting as McF could be,
that is probably the right choice.

It would be if he weren't so injury prone... I guess maybe it's at the low
end of the RB market. I dunno?

Problem with Fargas for me though is that I don't feel he's the best RB
on our roster, not by a long shot. In fact, he's on the bench on most
teams in the NFL.

Because Rhoads is a much better running back?

He' got decent playing time last year. He has to get past the eyes down run
fast and hope to hit a hole. Otherwise, it's hit a couple of def. players
really hard.
That will produce injuries. I think he is learning quickly and if he
continues to listen to the coaches, he very well will get better and better.
DOES ANYONE SEE A HALF FULL GLASS??? (emphasis, not anger)

I don't which is the best, either. Let's let them play and earn a shot or
hit the road.
