Helmets with radio communications have green dots on the back. Only one
player with a green dot is allowed on the field at a time.

The C indicates Captain. It's now, for the first time, an NFL standard
patch. The number of filled in stars below the C indicates how many
years the player has worn that patch. Being the first year, all patches
currently have one star filled.

no, you're not dumb, you just simply didn't know. I didn't know about
that feature either. I'm sure I'm not the only one who didn't notice
the big C letter and green dot.

I bet the players union must've been asking the NFL about it.
