Where do you stand on the Shaun Alexander debate?

"I am speaking at his church coming up on Saturday. I don’t see it as
much of a debate. Shaun, we know the type of back he can be. We know he
has been hurt and it has affected his play the last couple years. I am
not ready to buy into the fact that he hit 30 and all of a sudden he
can’t play anymore. As I have said so many times, he is the lightning
trod all last season. It is going to be a show-me type of year though.
But I am not ready to write that one off yet."

I really hope they back that one up with an alternative though just in case
Holmgren's wrong on that one and Shaun's not able to run as good as he
thinks he can. Even if Shaun's the man this season, we need to draft a guy
this year because it's a year where the draft's deep in RB's and
realistically, Alexander's about done in any case. He's at the point that
even with a injury free season and a good line to run behind and even if he
has a good season, this will likely be his swan song and we need the next
guy ready to take over like Shaun was ready to take over from Watters in his
last good season. I think that Ruskell will take care of that situation and
has plans to draft someone somewhere along the line.

As I've said all along, Holmgren's going to give Shaun every chance to be
the featured back before making any changes but he'll surely want the guy in
place to change to this season if Shaun doesn't perform up to his
expectations or get's injured again. Momo just ain't going to cut it this
season as a replacement. This year we're shooting the moon.

Holmgren also said that he's going to have to talk to Shaun about taking a
pay cut this season. Even with Shaun thinking that the organization won't
ask that of him, Holmgren's made it clear that the subject might have to be
broached. With Alexander's high salary and Trufant's franchise tag money,
the Seahawks are becoming cash strapped and I think Holmgren still has plans
to acquire some other players to take his final shot with. Someone's got to
give. Hopefully they will do both.
