Finally. Still with the cap hit, I wasn't sure they'd cut him. It's good
he's gone. |

He had to been absolutely the worst trade ever done in the NFL |

Uh, no, not even close.
Two far worse trades, New Orleans trade of their entire draft for the
'skins 1st round pick.
Amounted to NO got Ricky Williams, 'skins got Champ Bailey, Chris
Samuels, and Lavar Arrington.
and, of course, Hershel Walker traded to the Vikings for what
eventually turned into Emmit, Troy, and Michael. |

I had such hope for Lloyd because he has such outstanding physical
talent. He's big, strong, fast, great vertical, soft hands, the whole
package.
He's just a lazy loser. Sad that all of that talent will go to waste
because of a lack of character.
I'm not one to blow smoke up my own skirt (like King), but this is
what I wrote about Lloyd on the day the trade happened.
-----------------------------------------------------
Lloyd - Has caught about 45 passes in the last two of his 3 year
career while being thrown to by bad QBs. Because of the QB factor,
the
stats don't tell me much, so I went to the tape from the 'skins games
against the 49ers.
Hands are good, very good
His blocking looked okay, but not great
His route running isn't too crisp
Looks a little lazy at times. Can be seen to stop and watch when the
ball isn't coming to him.
Might have a problem making good reads, but hard to tell with SFs
lame
offense
Some specifics...
In 04, Taylor was 1 on 1 with Lloyd, Taylor left him and ran over
to make a pick off another wide-out. Lloyd made no effort to chase
Taylor.
Also in 04, on Antonio Pierce;s pick, Lloyd was chasing after
Pierce when Taylor angled in and nailed him with a block sending him
flying out of bounds.
In 05, Lloyd was 1 on 1 with Taylor. He telegraphed his cut, Alex
Smith telegraphed the throw, and Taylor cut in front of Lloyd for the
pick. I question Lloyds read on this play, had he shallowed his
route,
he could have made a catch.
In 05, Lloyd could not shake Springs. Was thrown to zero times
while covered by Springs.
I'm sure the 'skins have watched more tape on him then I have, so
we'll
just see how he works out. I'm not too impressed with his
performance
against the 'skins. |

Actually, I had forgotten this one. You're right. Bad enough though.
Maybe they should set up a category in the HOF to keep track of these.
Or at least Guiness. |

Apparently, so did Gibbs and Co.

And apparently also being unwilling to even run certain routes.

You would dead on. SFO must have been ecstatic with the deal they got
when they traded him |

Sometimes a shock like this is what is needed. In college he got by on
talent and reached the top without effort. He was bought by the Redskins
which only reinforced his self esteem. Someone will pick him up, even
the 'Skins would resign him for small bonus and vet minimum. He'll
probably get more than that, but not what he was making. Oh, and no need
to over anal lyze his performance here; he was outperformed by castoffs
from the waiver wire. |

No, Earnest Byner for Mike Oliphant was a much better and worse trade.
There are a few more trades even wurst than that, but not, I think,
involving the 'Skins. |

This one Llooyydd had talent, sometimes you can rectify the lack of
heart in the game. Goodbye Lloyd, don't let the door hit you on the way
out and accept the correction.
