The following is a pretty universal pick and comment for out 1st rounder
this year:

--------
Round 1:
25. Seattle Seahawks: Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
Shaun Alexander will be 31 by the start of the 2008 season, and he has
already shown signs of declining (3.5 yards per carry.) Sometimes it seems
like he's more concerned with where the hot-dog vendor is rather than
gaining an extra yard after contact. If the Seahawks don't cut Alexander at
the end of the year, I'll be shocked, even though he has five more years on
his deal. Rashard Mendenhall would look great in this offense.

By the way, I received an e-mail from a reader named Tyson who had the
following to say: "Why is it that you refer to Shaun Alexander as a 'fat
slob?' Usually guys who get the Most Valuable Player award aren't fat slobs.
You are losing credibility as soon as you make a comment like that. I like
the mock draft I just think its funny that you take a quality guy like Shaun
Alexander and make comments like that about him."

My response: "Shaun Alexander won't be starting much longer in the NFL. In
fact, I doubt he starts for a good team next year. Alexander used to be
great. But ever since he got hurt last year, he looks like he's afraid of
getting hit. He's slow to hit the hole and goes down way too easily. Unless
he really works hard this offseason, he's done."

Tyson agreed with my response. I just decided to post this for anyone else
who doesn't like the fact that I think the 2005 MVP secretly stashes puffy
Cheetos inside his helmet.

And from the same mock pick page:

Round 2:
55. Seattle Seahawks: Chilo Rachal, G, USC
Sure, Shaun Alexander runs like a 6-year-old girl prancing through a flower
garden (see my Round 1 write-up for more on this), but the Seahawks didn't
exactly blow open running lanes for him. They need an upgrade up front. A
tight end is also an option, but I feel as though Seattle can still acquire
a solid one in the third round.

Round 3:
86. Seattle Seahawks: Jermichael Finley, TE, Texas
Kicking Jerramy Stevens out of Seattle was a good thing. Replacing him with
Marcus Pollard? Not so good. The Seahawks need a legitimate, top-notch tight
end, and not one who drops 5,000 passes in a playoff game.

Round 4:
117. Seattle Seahawks: Josh Johnson, QB, San Diego
The Seahawks can afford to take their quarterback of the future here.
Besides, I bet Mike Holmgren would love to free up Seneca Wallace for
special offensive packages.

---
Now these guys have the Rams taking offensive lineman like they were on sale
at Wal-Mart, and then have them taking Michael Oher 2nd overall next year.
All I gotta say about that is that as much as I would like to see Oher
playing in Seattle, I would much rather not see him 2 or 3 times a year on
the other side of the field. Now their mock will of course dissolve when the
Seahawks go 0-16 next year and take Oher #1 overall Smile

Another pundit who thinks that they're just fine on defense. Am I the
only one in the world who watched the Seahawk road games?
