The kid's gonna make more money next year than he ever did during his
playing career. Amazing!...though he shoulda used his brain more last
week against the Giants in the 2nd half. |

He can't catch the passes, block the defense or run the ball and that's what
cost the Cowboys the game. That game had nothing at all to do with the
coaching. The team just quit and I think it was more from some kind of
internal tension between some of the players.

Yeah, true, but they were also outcoached in 2nd half. Shoulda stuck
to the running game more. Shoulda recognized the blitzes that were
coming more often. |

Barber still carried the ball 11 times in the second half. The reason
he didn't run more was because he was gassed, and it wasn't working
anyway.

Dallas was keeping 6-7 men in to block. They didn't have to recognize
it because they already knew it was coming. When the Giants realized
that Owens and Glenn couldn't hurt them deep, the brought 9 men up to
the line. The jammed the receivers with three, and rushed the other
six, which stifled the running game and disrupted the passing game by
not allowing (a) receivers to get into their routes, and (B) Romo
enough time to wait for the routes to develop.
Without speed to stretch the defense, the Giants were allowed to play
the entire second half with that approach. It wasn't that Dallas was
outcoached (at least, not to the extent some people claim), it's that
there wasn't a solution available. When you have to rely on Miles
Austin to stretch the defense, you have a problem.

That, and iirc, the Giants had a lot of guys up front to stop him.

Truly. But is there no other solution? If not, I guess we just ran out
of depth. |

Players don't throw away a chance to go to the superbowl because they
have a beef. The Cowboys lost because they were unable to deal with the
pass rush in the second half. THAT'S about coaching.
