Wow. What a way to retire it would have been.

If Favre had thrown a pass like Manning's on that last drive with the
houdini scramble, they'd still be talking about it 50 years from now. |

That was freaking amazing, but it paled in comparison to that catch.
Talk about skying to get it and then trapping it on your helmet in
heavy coverage. |

That was a Superbowl caliber catch from a pedestrian player. I loved it.
What a great game.

And not dropping it when you land flat on your back with a defender
slamming into you.

I can't help but think that Favre would have thrown a pick on that
last drive. |

Or, maybe he would have been hot all game, and it would have been a
blow-out, or maybe the running game would have worked.

Or maybe later monkeys will fly out of my butt.
Seriously, you have to love Favre with all his foibles. The one time
this year when he sort of puzzled me was after the NFC Championship.
He said something like he had expected the Packers to put the Giants
away earlier in the game. Sounds like severely underestimating the
opponent. I thought the Packers would win, but I did expect it to be
close. |

Obviously, the trolls have you brainwashed. Good ole boy Eli should invest in
the gold market. He threw the ball up for grabs on beaucoup occasions in the
playoffs, and his pedestrian receivers played out of their gourds and saved his
butt. IMO he seems as inspirational as Gomer Pyle and to put it bluntly,
couldn't carry Brett's protective cup or whatever in clutch situations. Check
his numbers after 16 seasons.

Well, he played better than THAT, but he did throw a few silly passes
that didn't get picked. I'm not including the catch by Tyree in that
category, because he had little choice but to throw it up for grabs.
Still, he played within himself for the most part, and with the Giants'
defense, that was obviously good enough.

The problem with this theory is that Favre most likely would have
returned for another season to see if he could repeat as a SB
champion... and then he may have returned the season after next to see
if he could be a three-time-consecutive SB champion... and then he may
have returned the NEXT season to see if he could have been a four-
time...
IOW, Favre is a little bit like the Energizer bunny. He'll just keep
going and going and going and going and going...
I love Brett Favre. He's a GREAT, TALENTED, SKILLFULL quarterback. I
DO think he has 1-2 years left in the tank, so to speak, but I also
think that he's beginning to kid himself about how much more
punishment his body can take. He WILL be 39 years old this year,
after all. I think, without a doubt, Favre has gotten DAMN lucky the
last couple of years by not suffering a serious injury.
If he doesn't win another SB in the next season or two, and continues
to play football after that, I will seriously question his competence
as a player and as a person in general.

Oops... before some troll says something completely idiotic, that
should be 'skillful'. |
