The Eagles placed the franchise player tag on LJ Smith. Obviously, they
don't think they can replace him in FA or the draft. Smith should have a
better season in 2008 since he was hampered by injury in 2007. On the other
hand, Smith is far from All-Pro, and as the franchise player, he will be
overpaid. The last time the Eagles used the franchise player tag, it blew
up in their face and they withdrew the tag. If Smith is disgruntled over
this action, he could be a cancer. We'll have to see how this unfolds.

They just want to make sure Brent Celek recovers from his shoulder
surgery.

If you can't draft someone as mediocre as LJ Smith, then you need to
replace the H.C.

The same way Mike Holgrem is being replaced next year in Seattle.

Plain and simple.

How could he possibly be disgruntled over the tag? He'll make far more
than he's worth...FAR MORE!

I'm displeased and I wanted him gone. Guaranteed 4.5 million? For who, for
what? I'd rather grow Celek. He'll be hurt all year, collect his pay, go
elsewhere. Stupid franchise. Let him walk.

While I believe the team wants him on the roster in 2008, it is possible
that they will try to deal him.

That is a great idea; I wish you had a hotline to Andy's office. In my
opinion, LJ Smith is the easiest starter to replace. Furthermore, Brent
Celek was the best rookie on the team.

That doesn't cover a lot of ground. That's like being the head chef
at McDonald's.

ever heard of player named JD Smith? I'm getting ready to bid on these cards. They're all Hall of Famers except for a guy named J.D. Smith. Anyone ever heard of him before? Was he a superstar back in the day?
