Can anyone name any Lions players (active, retired, etc) with the last
name starting with X or Y or Z?

I looked at the Detroit Lions groups at
http://www.facebook.com/ and http://www.myspace.com/

Thanks
Mike

There have been no football players for any team whose last name began
with an X.

James (Jim) Kelley Yarbrough was drafted by the Lions in the 2nd round
(47th overall) of the 1969 Draft. He played left tackle for the Lions
and retired after the 1977 season.

Kicker Garabed Sarko Yepremian (better known as Garo Yepremian) played
his first two years in the NFL with Lions in 1966 and 1967 and then
was sent to the Miami Dolphins and was part of the 72 undefeated team.

Matthew Adrain Young Jr. played linebacker for 10 games for the Lions
in 1972 before being sent back to the Eagles.

Walt Yowarsky played left defensive end for the Lions for 2 games in
1955 before being sent to the New York Giants.

Roger Zatkoff played the last two years of his career in Detroit at
the right line backer position in 1957 and 1958.

Jerry Zawadzkas was drafted by the Lions in the 16th round (401st
overall) of the 1967 Draft. He was a tight end who played his entire
career with the Lions. That career consisted of 2 games in the 1967
season.

Henry Leroy (Roy) Zimmerman Jr. played 1 year for the Lions in 1947 at
the quarterback position. He played in 12 games, starting 7 of them.
The Lions were 3 and 9 that year.

Michael (Mickey) Joseph Zofko was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the
9th round (229th overall) of the 1971 Draft. He was a kick returner
and played with the Lions from 1971 through 1974. In 1974 he was sent
to the New York Giants after 4 games with the Lions.

Anthony (Tony) Joseph Zuzzio from that great football school
Muhlenberg College played his entire career with the Lions at the
guard position. That career consisted of 2 games in 1942.

LOL! Research, my friend. I barely remember who played for the Lions
in the 2007 season much less the 1947 season.
