"Remember a few years ago when, as a Minnesota Viking, Randy Moss walked
off the field and into the locker room at the end of a loss to the
Washington Redskins?
In Super Bowl XLII, it was Moss and his new team ... the New England
Patriots ... that did the walking. With :01 remaining in the game ...
everyone who seems to have the right to run onto a field when a game ends,
did. They had to clear the field to run that one second off the clock. As
they did so, the Pats team walked off the field and into the locker room.
The only guys left on the field were the stragglers who comprised the 11
that were on the field when the Giants took their game-ending kneel.
It should be noted that Bill Belichick did congratulate Giants' head coach
Tom Coughlin (who he worked with back on that Super Bowl XXV Giants'
team). You can see that at the :41 mark of the video above. Still, have
your team out there for "all 60 minutes" ... then walk off the field." |

When you watch the video keep an eye on the game clock. See how
it goes to zero and EVERYONE thinks the game is over? That's why
Belichick was escorted across the field to hug Coughlin...... and why he
left the field. Do you think security would have escorted him across the
field if anyone thought there was time left on the clock? I understand
that people are blinded by hatred of Belichick and the Pats...... but ya'll
really need to get a grip. |

Keep watching the video. Notice how the referee gets to Belichick just
before he reaches Coughlin, letting him know that they have to run one
more play? Notice how Belichick brushes him off then runs off the field
after he hugs Coughlin? |

Then why was he escorted off the field? And how do you know what
was said to him? |

I don't think he was escorted off the field. Since he was leaving, it looked
to me like they were going to provide "security" or crowd control which is
what they are supposed to do when they are around him.
I recall someone running behind him looking up at the clock and yelling at
him to turn around but coach just kept walking. |

He was escorted off the field because the cops providing security for
him were doing their job - following him and protecting him from the
crowd. It isn't their call tell him where to go; he leads, they follow.
How about a bit of reading from the Pats hometown paper regarding
Belichick's early exit after referee Mike Carey asked him to return to
his sideline:

Oh well. The coach is a miserable prick. I'm over it and
looking forward to pitchers and catchers reporting soon. |

Me too. Beat the hell out of the Yankees for me. I still haven't
forgotten Reggie Jackson's hip move in the 1978 World Series. But
that's for another usenet group.
See you next year. |

If I had any control over it, Chip, I would grant your wish!
