According to census data in the year 2000 there were 1,750,927 housing
unites in Kentucky. This represents a 16.2% from 1,506,845 in 1990.

Of those housing units, 978,654 were located in either urbanized areas
or urban clusters, and 772,273 were located in what is classified as a
rural area.
