If part of the technique of the defensive backfield is to "watch the
quarterbacks' eyes" why don't QB's routinely wear dark colored visors
on their helmets? It seems like a "duh" situation but I can't ever
recall ever seeing a QB with one on. Thanks, Samuel.

I believe that is actually illegal. And I think the players that do have
visors have to have medical requirements to do so. |

Jim McMahon used to wear one, but I remember hearing stories about an eye
injury. |

They don't watch the QB's 'eyes'; they watch the QB's head. |

McMahon had an eye problem that meant he needed to wear tinted lenses.

It has been illegal for players to wear the colored visor for a few years now.
This rule makes sense since it keeps some players from having an unfair,
equipment advantage over the competition. |

If it was legal, exactly how would it be unfair for some?
