I really don't get the point of this at all.
So he isn't a NT. Cut Coleman and play D-Rob at DE full time. |

53917. Blockbuster TRADE!!

The deal is done with Detroit and Denver, but the Jets are included.
The Broncos are sending Foxworth and a 2nd to the Lions, the Jets are
sending Robertson and a 5th to the Broncos, and Lions are sending
Rogers to the Jets! The deal will be annouced tomorow!!! I just heard
this on a local sports radio show!
In this incarnation, the Jets give up DRob and a 5th for Shaun Rogers
in a 3 way deal involving Detroit, Denver and Tannenbaum. By the way,
the "local radio" station is a Detroit sports show.
I try to ignore all the message board rumors this time of year. They
are enoough to make a Jets fan cry. None of the good ones ever come
to fruition. |

exactly. 99% of rumors floating around the last 2 weeks of February
are just smoke. I have learned not to get my hopes up on any of these. |

If he was a great player, he might be worth his cap hit (1/10th of the whole cap
allocation). But as is, he's a terrible value.
So, seeing what offers they might receive, aint a bad move.
I'm hoping they can renegotiate, and move him to DE.

Actually, I think there is a 3mill cap savings if he is cut.
Most of the cap number on him is salary.

This is a terrible trade. We are overpaying, Denver is effectively
getting DRob for #2 pick and we are trading a once #4 pick for a
slackard and having to give up a #5 for the privilege.
Fire the FO.

Oh, D-Rob ain't worth 10% of the team's cap.

"Dewayne Robertson doesn't tie up blockers on a consistent basis ...

A perfect example of the risk of of trading up. You give up two first-
rounders and a fourth, who could have been two or maybe even three
players who help the team at a reasonable price, and end up with only
one who helps your team while being hugely overpriced, thus hurting
the team at other positions.
But the press and fans all applaud because you had the gonads to make
the dramatic move to improve the team. After this Bradway's
popularity zoomed for a few days, remember?
We need competent bodies at several positions, not a hugely priced big
name at one (who at best will be no bargain, and at worst can be a cap
disaster). Let's not do the likes of this again.

first, the trade rumor is merely that... an unsupported fan rumor that
makes no sense. Don't kill the FO for that. Second, DRob may have
been a #4 overall, but he plays like a 5th rounder at best. The cost
of DRob was just one of many Bradway blunders. Trading him for Rogers
could be a huge upgrade for the Jets if (and this is a big "if")
Mangini can get Rogers to play hard for a full season. As far as raw
talent, Rogers blows DRob off of the map. DRob and a 5th for Rogers
is a freaking steal (if you ignore the ridiculous price Bradway paid
for DSlob in the first place.) If you think the two are on the same
level on the playing field, then I have no idea what you have been
watching. |

Surprised. SR has more talent in his pinky than DRob has in
degenerative knee. It's just that Detroit couldn't get him to give a
full effort for 16 games. I'd take the risk and make this trade in a
heartbeat. |

I don't think Rogers is half as good as you think he is or that DRob is
half as bad as you think he is. Forced to choose, I'd probably take
Robertson to be honest. More versatile, better stamina.
But then I saw the cap number...
