Sun media interviewd BC Lions QB Dave Dickenson.
One of the questions was if he could change anything, what would it
be?
DICKENSON: "I would change the single point rule. You shouldn't be
rewarded for missing something."
The cfl single point failure rule is ridiculous-nice 45-45 tie the
other night-couldn't one of those non-football players in the non-
football league just have missed one more field goal in regulation
time.
cfl single point failure rule retards, you're stupid-one of the best
quarterbacks says the rule has got to go-what's your retort, morons?
That Dickenson should go play in the USA?
Dickenson isn't good enough to play in the NFL-that's why he plays in
the CFL.

That's because you, and obviously Mr. Dickinson don't know the history
of the game, and the Rouge.
The Rouge, or 'single point,' is awarded to a team when they punt or
place kick or drop kick the ball into, or through, the end zone. If the
ball is place kicked (or drop kicked) through the goal post uprights, an
additional two points are awarded for accuracy... where's the miss?
Would you want to get rid of the two extra points and just keep the Rouge?

1) Where is the link? One would think that providing a link to an
actual new story would add great credibility to the post. Otherwise
who is to know you simply made it up.
2) How often do you post about the CFL's Rouge? When it comes to the
rouge you seem to be very traumatized by it. You very often post about
it not only in the rec.sport.football.canadian newsgroup but in other
newsgroups that apparently have nothing to do with Canadian football.

Reasoning has zero effect on him. He's got some kind of "rouge-fetish"
that leads him to a type of addictive posting about the subject. Gotta
wonder though what the people at the Yankees newsgroup think of his
posts? Hhhmmm...loser comes to mind.

Could somebody please explain the rationale behind the single point
failure rule? I am afraid I can't make sense of why anybody should be
awarded points for missing a field goal. I don't think there's any
other sport or league in the world where a team gets points during a
game for failure. I am sure I must be missing something here.

OK, I'll bite. First, IMHO your post is nothing more than a troll. Why
do I say that? Because you other than this newsgroup the others you
have listed, like that prick Brent Armstrong, have nothing to do with
the CFL or football for that matter.
But here is why there CAN be a single awarded to the kicking team on a
missed field goal: the ball is still live. And being a live ball it is
then incumbent on the returning team to get the ball out of their end
zone. Unlike in the NFL with its uprights at the back of their 10 yard
deep end zone, the uprights in the CFL are at the front of its 20 yard
deep end zone.
It is a myth, pure myth, that a single is awarded for missing. The
single is awarded to the kicking team when the returning team fails to
get a live ball out of their end zone.
Nowadays it is very common for CFL teams to return missed field goals.
Kicking teams tend to field their larger players on field goals and it
is easier for speedy returners to make good yardage if a kick goes
wide.
Now I will agree that should a field goal attempt go wide and out of
the end zone then there shouldn't be a point awarded to the kicking
team. There being no opportunity for the returning team to make a
return.
Fair being fair, perhaps YOU can explain to me what on earth does the
Yankees' newsgroup have to do with the Canadian Football League, as
well as newsgroups for Canadian culture and Canadian singles. Might it
be that you are just as dense in the head as Brent Armstrong?
'Nuf said.

I don't know about Brent Armstrong, but I will post the link because
you are
a) lazy
b) stupid
c) ignorant
d) believe in the culture of defeatism which rewards failure
e) all or any combination of the above
http://calsun.canoe.ca/Sports/Football/2007/08/19/4429453-sun.html
speaking of credibility, do the math, retard proponent of rewarding
failure:
Dave Dickenson: CFL superstar with 100% credibility
Glen Hallick, stupid usenet guy who supports failure contradicting
Dickenson
has <0% credibility.

I wouldn't go that far-it's time for the CFL to grow up, stop
rewarding failure and become a real football league.
Dave Dickenson said it.
I believe it.
That settles it.

Where is the reasoning about Dickenson refutation on the single point
failure rule. YOu have failed to produce, because you are a failure-
sorry, no point for you, failure.
