Excerpts:

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Tony Romo's five
touchdown performance earned him NFC Offensive
Player of the Week honors for Week 1, it was announced
on Wednesday.

....

Romo went 15-of-24 for 345 yards and four touchdown
passes and also ran for a touchdown in the Cowboys' 45-35
win on Sunday against the New York Giants.

The four touchdown passes were the most thrown by a
Dallas quarterback on opening weekend since Troy Aikman
tossed five touchdowns in 1999. Also, the 45 points scored
were the most in a Cowboys opener since 1971.

It is Romo's third career player of the week award.

I think the TD run along with the 4 TD passes sealed the deal.

Sure, you are absolutely right

For years, I have been screaming about getting a tight end and Witten
did give Romo and the offense a chance to complete early passes and
get in his rhythm

Anyway, I will be thrilled with more performances like this from Romo

As would we all. As far as witten goes, I think people are very quick
to heap praise on him and Romo. Don't get me wrong, those praises are
well-deserved. My point, however, is that people tend to forget Jason
Garrett's role, especially as it pertains to Witten. Give Witten all
the accolades he deserves. Give Romo the "POW" award, but give the
game ball to Garrett.

"The NFL has figured out Tony Romo": NFLbooboo, one game before Romo leads
his team to 45pts, and Favre leads his team to 6 pts.

For patience more than anything else

Not getting panicked, not doing anything in desperation, taking what
was given, the short easy safe routes that were not spectacular but
netted first downs

By the way, no one has mentioned the great block T.O. had on a
touchdown play

I, OTOH, hope he throws a lot more.

I'd be happy if he'd stop throwing stupid interceptions. Yes they do
happen but come on...
