It's incredible -- but that Super Bowl victory by the Giants is *still*
making me smile! Imagine how insufferable the Patriots fans would have been
if they had gone undefeated? They were pretty bad leading up to the Super
Bowl, but that one loss was all it took to put 'em in their place! Very Happy

Agreed. I was sick sick sick sick of the whole Patriots "undefeated"
thing.
What sweet justice for Eli Manning, one of the most fragile QBs I've
ever seen,
to put the hammer on them on the last drive of the Superbowl.

Me too John LOL. Everyone i know is still laughing about it. They went from
"THE GREATEST TEAM IN HISTORY" to "The Biggest Chumps In History" in just a
couple hours. With the easiest schedule in the league next year maybe we
could see "19-0 Version II" hit the newstands before week 10.

John Peterson,

You are not the only one. Smile Being a Giants fan, and as I have said
here before, as long as one of my three teams, STeelers, Pats, or Giants
came up with the Lombardi, I would be happy!!

*Sings*: Start spreading the News......I'm leaving today......It's up to
you, New YOrk, New York." Smile

Now if my Yankees can reclaim the World Series title..... LOL

I will say one thing though. Even though I am happy that I had not one,
but two of my favorite teams in the big game (sorry!...Next time tell
dumb ass ARians not to call a 3rd and 6 QB sweep! LOL just picking!) ,
and my Giants somehow put their heads together and won, I do regret one
thing: We got to hear Mercury Morris and co. run their mouths for
another year at least! I am sorry, but they were, especially MOrris,
ANNOYING as heck! I could not stand them!

That's the only negative to the whole thing. Who has less
class, Bill Bellichek or Don Shula et. al?

Not to be aurguementive or anything like that but.... I just don't
understand the whole anti-Bellichek thing. The mans job is to win football
games & he has consistently done that. It shouldn't matter if he is a media
darling; baby-kissing diplomat of Pro-football or beloved
'Man-of-the-People'... his job is to win football games & he has done it
well (even if he did cheat which was a common & know practice in the NFL).
If Vince Lombardii coached in this era of mass-media I'm sure he would be
despised as well. The job isn't to be well liked, the job is to win football
games. I personally think he has been doing his job pretty gawddamn well, we
should be so lucky. I don't care if he isn't photogenic or media friendly; I
don't care if he isn't a glad-hander or a smiling darling. He gets paid to
win football games & he's done it consistently. I hate the Patriots with a
passion, but give the devil his due... Bellichek has done his job better
than anyone else since Chuck Noll. I would rather have a cioach who is
dislike but wins than a coach who is beloved and loses (Coach Fazio anyone?)

I strongly disagree with this statement. Lombardi was a hardass and a
perfectionist, but he didn't cheat and he treated his players with the
utmost respect. In fact, in a lot of ways he was the anti-BB. He helped
suspend the best player in the league, one of his players, for breaking
league rules!

I don't disagree with much of this. If I was a Patriots fan, I
wouldn't be terribly upset with it. But there is an implication here
that in order to win and keep winning, you have to be like Bellichek.
I don't buy it. Bill Walsh -- Bellichek hasn't outdone him, either --
was very classy. And John Wooden won a billion championships and did
it with dignity. Even Don Shula -- until he started making an ass of
himself of late -- had a brilliant career as a coach, and did it with
grace.

So yeah, I give Belichek his due. But his due is more than
"what a great coach". His due is "what a great coach, too bad he's
such an unlikeable jackass."

(Sort of reminds of Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens. They were
so awesome, you couldn't help cheering for them. Until they opened
their mouth. Great players. Not at all likeable.)
