It's getting reported all over, for instance, at
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3260529.
Can anyone confirm? Are they thinking of him as a part timer/veteran
leadership, or is he supposed to be a starter/key contributor?

I cannot imagine why Dallas would have any interest in spending valuable cap
space on a washed up Zack Thomas. LB is not an urgent need for them.
Jerruh! Save you money for a WR, like Bernard Berrian. |

The deal is pretty simple... 1 million in base pay.. 1 million sign on
bonus.. and 1 million in easily reachable incentives. |

The only thing I can think of is Jerry doesn't expect to have
Bobby Carpenter on the roster and so this sort of replaces
his cap impact. |

This tells me that Jerry isn't going to make a big splash in free agency.
We can expect to pick up a WR, a CB, and RB in the first two rounds. I
think we can forget about a high-priced FA acquisition at any of those
positions. Personally, I don't like the FA crop at those positions (CB
because of price, WR because of quality, and RB because of the strength of
that position in this year's draft). I'm completely unenamored with our LB
corps (outside of Ware, Ellis, and Spencer). Ayodele, to me, is just a guy.
I know there's been positive reviews of the individual play of Burnett and
James, but as a group I find the ILB's to be totally underwhelming. If
Thomas can get to the ball and make plays, there's no way in hell it hurts
us. It might be a significant improvement.
I'm wondering if they're going to ask Thomas to do some of things they're
currently asking Roy Williams to do. Roy is basically an undersized LB,
used in run support, that can't cover. Sounds a lot like Thomas.......but I
bet he tackles better than Williams. |

I know what you mean about our LBs. Even Bradie James doesn't always
impress me, but he seems to be in the play more than Ayodele.
The only players I'd be interested in in FA are Michael Turner from SD
(RB) and Berrian from Chicago (WR). Berrian mostly because
he has some speed, which we need. Turner will prlbably command
several million per year (3-4+). |

This all doesn't much matter if Tony Romo marries Jessica Simpson. If they
get married this fast, its all about publicity for Jessica and after she
dumps him like a hot potato, he will be ruined!

My biggest concerns is he could be a concussion problem and if he gets one
more, I am going to better he misses the season. At LB the chances are
pretty good he takes some big hits to the head. If he concusses in in the
preseason or game 1, Jerruh will have wasted $2MM against the CAP. Unless
he plans to release someone else to free up CAP room I do not see the value
in this move. |

While I also treasure cap room, we have a pretty good amount of it free,
and while our OLB's are great, I don't mind shoring up with a veteran at
ILB.
All bets are off if we run out of cap space to address a position of
need... CB, SS, WR, etc...

Do we? I read its was only $9 MM and with that we need to sign Flozell,
Barber and 2 #1 draft picks.
Although I am sure Jerruh is going to trade one of those 2 away for more
later picks.
