Really? Lost? Is it really that difficult to find the white ball
again? Chances are there wasn't a score, so what's there to be lost
about?

It's hard to get "lost" by missing part of any spectator sporting event.
An exception would be a long race in which competitors might have lapped
each other, but even there someone can put up a board showing laps
completed by individuals.
