Jake Plummer didn't lose this game. He certainly helped, but early
on your DEFENSE lost it
and your OFFENSIVE LINE lost it.
The RUNNING BACKS lost it, ditto the RECEIVERS, ditto the SPECIAL
TEAMS, etc. etc.
Plummer is not a loser. He's no John Elway either, but then I can't
think of but a half dozen QB's that ever were.

I pretty much agree with you, but I have a question: Is there a problem
with your caps lock key?

S'right. Sadly, I can't think of a single thing the Broncos did right.
What they did wrong covered the entire field on both sides of the ball.

Ain't that the truth.
It's as if these guys had never played together. No synergy. I think they
thought they could take it easy, since they were on home turf. So, so wrong.
Steelers stomped them early and often.

They did an excellent job at stopping the Steeler's running game. Only 2.7
ypc.

True. Which made the 3rd (and usually fairly long) conversions even more
damn frustrating. Damn, damn, damn, damnity damn damn.
Oh well. Will you be cheering on the Seahawks, MZB? |

Absolutely. I have to say, it was pretty hard for me to be bummed about
the Broncos' loss for too long. I felt like a spoiled brat when I was. I
had some people over for the doubleheader. I was, of course, pretty bummed
during the game and afterwards. But I had some Seahawks fans over and you
could just feel the excitement build when Seattle took the early lead.
They were SO EXCITED just to be able to play in the Super Bowl. It was
like the ultimate Christmas present. "This isn't real! This isn't
happening! Oh my goodness!" And there I was, feeling bad that the Broncos
didn't make it to their seventh Super Bowl? I felt like kind of a dick,
you know?
So, I cheered up and went all out for the Seahawks. Go Seahawks. This city
hasn't had a lot to cheer for when it comes to sports; they deserve
something like this. A SB win would put the city in a tizzy. Do you
realize that before this season, they've only won something like three
playoff games *ever*? Not a lot of franchise success.
So yeah, with the Broncos out of it, I'm totally rooting for the Seahawks.
They have clearly emerged as my "second" team.

Good for the Seahawks. I can't pull for them since they're NFC. Besides, one
can't truly appreciate a SB victory until losing four. |

The Steelers are going to wipe the Seahawks out, just like
they did with the Bengals, Colts and Broncos. None of those three
games were even close, with the exception of the Colts game. But this
was due to the trememdous help from a hometown ref.

A lot of Broncos fans will be rooting for the Steelers. In spite of
you. Of course a lot of us will also be rooting for you to get your
head caught in the blender tomorrow morning as well. What would the
over/under be on that, do you think? Well? Do you? Think, I mean.

I got news for you - Roethlisberger is *built* like Elway, scrambles
even *better* than Elway, and for as young of a QB, I dare say is
probably a bit smarter than Elway was at the same point in Elway's
career. Ben doesn't quite have Elway's throwing 'gun', but his throwing
arm is pretty impressive as it is. Ben also possesses that one all
important ability - great field of view. If Ben is around for another
12-13 years, I dare say comparisons between him and Elway (or the other
greats for that matter) will be made and deservedly so.

Tough to compare their early years. Elway was in Reeve's system of "run
first, then run...and pass only if necessary." As has been conjectured many
many times, Elway's career numbers under a more pass-oriented coach might have
been astronomical. |

I disagree. it's EASY to compare Elway's first to years to
Roethlisberger's first two years. It's HARD to compare "what could have
been" to what is or "what could have been" to "what could have been."
Ben in in a run-first offense as well, but they're opening that up more
now as he matures.
Sure sure sure... if Elway had played in a run and shoot, maybe he'd
have had 70,000 yards. or maybe he'd have been injured in his third
season and NEVER done anything. It's that whole "ifs and buts" thing.
