Excerpts:

.... some research on how 2-0 teams have fared the
past five years.

....

From 2002, when the Texans entered the league,
until 2006, 41 teams started off 2-0. ... only 24
made the playoffs ...

The overall record of the 41 2-0 teams was 406-250
for a winning percentage of .619 and an average
record of nearly 10-6. (It comes out to 9.9 wins per
season.)

In 2002, there were eight 2-0 teams. In '03, there
also were eight. There were seven 2-0 teams in
both '04 and '05, but a whopping 11 in 2006.

Check this weirdness: Of the eight 2-0 teams in
2002, only one (ONE!) made the playoffs. In '06,
seven of the 11 2-0 clubs made the postseason.

....

Now take a look at the worst eventual records of
2-0 teams from 2002-2006:

2002 Bears 4-12
2003 Redskins 5-11
2003 Titans 6-10
2004 Lions 6-10
2006 Vikings 6-10

The Steelers, Colts, Texans, Patriots, Broncos, Packers,
Lions, Cowboys, Redskins and 49ers are currently at
2-0. That's 10 teams. If the five-year model holds up,
six of them will make the playoffs.

That's over 56% vs. 12/32 = 3/8=37.5%. The odds are *bad* for
teams that are 0-2.
