---

Good news? The Cowboys appear to be among
the best teams in the NFC, and may very well
attain 1st place in the NFC East, at least one
home playoff game, and a legitimate shot at the
NFC Championship.

---

Bad news? After -2- games, the team that most
thought had done the most to improve, the team
that came within a hair of making it to, and in
all likelihood winning, the last Super Bowl, that
team, despite a 'cheating' controversy, wiped out
the San Diego Chargers. In all likelihood, that
team will win the next Super Bowl, so ...

.... but of course, anything can happen, and who
knows, the Patriots may stumble, but right now,
it does appear that New England is on its way
to another NFL Championship, and the NFC rep
is on its way to a likely Super Bowl loss.

---

Good news? The Cowboys' offense put up 37
points in Miami, in September, against what
most perceive to be a good defense, thereby
yielding weight in favor of a somewhat prema-
ture conclusion that the Cowboys' 2007 offense
is 'for real'. Miami, by the way, per Wade Phil-
lips, was 20-4 in September in Miami prior to
the Cowboys' win.

---

Bad news? The Cowboys' 'pressure' defense is
MIA, thus far, lending weight to the conclusion
that without Newman, the Cowboys' defense will
be far removed from what was envisioned prior
to Newman's injury.

Oh sure, 5 turnovers, that bodes well, but still,
the type of defense that Wade led in San Diego
is not yet here.

Viewing how Tom Brady shredded Wade's ex-
defensive gang Sunday night, not much in the way
of hope that Wade's new crew will fare better
were they to face New England in the Super
Bowl, even -if- (when) Newman and Ellis
return.

---

However ...

.... not to worry (too much), as the Cowboys will
get their chance to prove they would be up to the
likely Super Bowl challenge come October 14th,
as the Patriots come to town.

By the way, the top -2- QBs in the NFL? Tom
Brady -and- Tony Romo, after the first 2 games.

---

Good news, other (undefeated teams)? Teams with
undefeated records after the first 2 games -- Patriots,
Steelers, Texans, Colts, Broncos, Cowboys, Lions,
Packers, 49ers.

Bad news, other (winless teams)? Teams without a
win after the first 2 games -- Bills, Dolphins, Jets,
Chiefs, Raiders, Giants, Falcons, Saints, Rams.

After Monday night's game, add the Redskins to that
list of teams undefeated after 2 games.

After Monday night's game, add the Eagles to that
list of teams winless after 2 games.

2/3rds of teams with 2 wins make the playoffs, and about 1/10 of teams
with 2 losses make the playoffs, or so I have heard.

Has anyone run the numbers on wining the division, avoiding a playoff
game or getting home field advantage?
