Over Buffalo's terrible performance in Pro-Player Sunday night. Drew
went into brain freeze, and the Dolphins ran Ricky Williams up the gut
on them all night. What a letdown after two stellar opening wins, Bills
just let the Dolphins back into the AFC-East title race, matter of fact,
with two division and conference wins, the Fins lead that division ahead
of Buffalo, and New England, even though they are tied in won-lost.
Someone came to play, and it wasn't Buffalo. Miami can't maintain that
high-energy level, any more than Tampa could from their opening game win
in Philadelphia. Miami only has one weapon - Ricky Williams - and if you
allow them to use him, like Buffalo did, giving up gift-after-gift, he
will kill you.
Dolphins made the same mistake with Buffalo that they did in their
opening loss to Houston at home, let the Bills stay around in
contention, as bad as they were playing, until almost the 2-minute mark,
where a turnover would have given Buffalo a shot at the win. Even so,
don't think Drew could have hit water falling out of a boat Sunday night
in Miami. Dolphins took it to them, and Buffalo wasn't ready, physically
or mentally, and William's got out-coached, with a simle game plan, big
time.
Less of a critical loss for Buffalo than a must win for Miami - give
them credit, they did come to play, probably saved Dave Wannstead't job
for the year.
